It is normal for wicks to mushroom when using coconut/soy wax. After each use, it is best to trim the wick to 1/4 inch.Trimming ensures your candle does not burn hotter than it should, and thus prolong the life of your candle. Be careful not to trim too short or it may become engulfed by the wax.
